Tailgate Party with Santa at Tan-Tar-A Resort - enjoy a bonfire and sing-along before the lighting of the resorts Christmas decorations. Click on the link for more information.

SHOPPING!!!! - The Lake's Osage Beach Premium Outlets Mall - the mall is extending its hours the day after Thanksgiving and also hosting lots of special savings. Visit their site to find out more!

Main Street Music Hall - offers holiday carols, gospel hymns, musical impersonations and comedy all wrapped in one fabulous show! The show is offered weekends beginning November 7th and running through December 21st. Click on the link for more information.

Deck the Docks - is a great way to experience the Lake of the Ozarks during the magical holiday season! Climb aboard the Celebration Cruise Boat to view some beautiful lakefront homes and docks decorated for the holiday season. Cruises run every Friday and Saturday evening between November 28th and December 27th. For more information call (573) 480-3212 or click on the link above.

ICE SKATING - The Lake of the Ozarks has a new attraction this year - ice skating! A new outdoor ice skating rink located at the Old Kinderhook Resort is now open. They will be hosting a ceremony on December 5th at 9:00 pm that will feature the lighting of the grand Christmas tree on "The Ice". For more information, click on the link above.

Christmas on the Square - This is an all day event held on December 6th in Camdenton on the square with food, games, gifts and a visit from SANTA!

Dogwoods and Crappie!

What goes together like peanut butter and jelly, bacon and eggs or even ducks to a pond? Well, it's Dogwoods and Crappie of course!

The Dogwoods are blooming and Crappie are biting at the Lake of the Ozarks! They usually bite pretty good through the months of April and May so there is still plenty of time to get in on the action and catch yourself some crappie! For some great tips and information about fishing at the Lake of the Ozarks, take a look at Bassing Bobs website which is always a great source for news, information and great tips on fishing.

Not only is this the best time to crappie fish, but the annual Dogwood Festival will be in full swing this weekend April 24th - 26th as well! The Camdenton Chamber of Commerce has some great information on all the great events that will be happening during the festival weekend including the Miss Dogwood Pageant, the indoor craft show, carnival rides and food vendors along with a map that shows where each vendor will be located.

As always, if you are new in town or would like to spend your weekend on the Lake, fishing from your own private dock and stay in a clean and comfortable log home come stay with us at Poco Risco's Lakefront Log Home Rentals!

The Winter Bass Challenge

1/9/2014

The Winter Bass Challenge is already under way at the Lake of the Ozarks in Missouri. The first event (tournament) began this past Saturday, January 4th and runs until this Saturday, January 11th. This tournament is actually a series and there are more events scheduled for January 25th and also February 9th. The tournament is c0-hosted by Bassing Bob and draws hundreds of anglers and their families every year and has a payment format that pays out to all levels of anglers.

Winter fishing is a great sport and this time of year is great for the anglers to be able to move around the lake without all of the big boat traffic we have during the summer season. The lake opens itself up to the fisherman and provides him/her with an ideal atmosphere! So when you think bass fishing - think winter - think Lake of the Ozarks - and think Poco Risco Rentals.

The Pelican Point Log Home and the Sunset View Log Home both include their own private boat dock with a covered slip which would be a great place to keep the fishing boat. The Pelican Point Log Home is a 3 bedroom home and the Sunset View Log Home is a 4 bedroom home, so bring along the family and when you are out at your tournament you can rest assured your family is comfortable and enjoy a nice getaway as well.

Missouri Fishing - Even when it's COLD!

12/13/2013

I just finished reading an article online about the fishing in Missouri - even when it's COLD! It seems, from the article, that data from the Missouri Department of Conservation shows that winter is when some of the largest fish are caught in Missouri waters. Not only can you can some wonderfully large fish on our lake, but the Lake of the Ozarks is a very peaceful and beautiful place to fish in the winter.

In the winter, there are no big boats, wake boarders, or skiers to deal with. Of course it is a little cold, but by wearing proper clothing you can feel quite comfortable out on the water. Hand and feet warmers are a great addition to your normal winter wear.

There are several fishing tournaments set up for the winter including:

December 28, 2013
January 11, 2014
January 25, 2014
February 9, 2014

Hundreds of anglers will be participating in these tournaments. Payouts are large and out-of-towners will be pouring in! If you plan on attending any of these tournaments be sure to contact Poco Risco's Lakefront Log Home Rentals where you can stay in a log home right on the water with your own private boat dock to store your fishing boat!

Somebody decided to help me clean the log homes to get them ready for the weekend. Guess he decided he needed to supervise me!

All of the homes were full for Labor Day weekend and this past weekend. So far we have had a GREAT year!

Fall is a wonderful time to visit the lake. The leaves are tuning into brilliant colors, it is a great time to sit around a fire pit, the wineries are also a great place to visit in the fall. Give us a call and reserve a short getaway - Poco Risco's Lakefront Log Home Rentals is the best place to relax and unwind!
